Swimming with Orcas

Overview

Intro
Swimming with orcas in Tromsø, Norway, offers an unparalleled adventure for wildlife enthusiasts. Known for its clear waters and abundant orca population, Tromsø is one of the best places on Earth to swim with these majestic creatures.

From late October to January, orcas gather in the fjords to feast on herring, providing an almost guaranteed encounter for snorkelers. Tours typically start early, with participants donning dry suits and heading out on dinghies to spot the orcas. While day trips are available, multi-day liveaboard trips offer a more immersive experience, venturing into remote fjords and away from crowded waters.

Pierre the Orca whispers presentation was amazing and taught us/prepared us for being in the water with Orcas.

I still can’t believe we swam with the Orcas 3 days out of the trip with over 20 encounters. We were able to see the northern lights 3 times as well!

Chef John was amazing, best food I’ve ever had on a liveaboard. Tony and Torbjön also taught us a lot about professional photography.

Spending time in the water with orcas is absolutely incredible – I’m still speechless.

It was a real highlight seeing the orcas up close and there were so many of them. The crew and orca guide were very knowledgeable and the evening lectures were fascinating. The Northern Lights were amazing from on the Sula and the food was exceptional. The chef catered for all dietary requirements without compromising on quality.

    When can I go again?!
