Intro (new)
Sava Dunes is wonderfully situated in a remote part of the Mozambican coastline. Nestled between the area of picturesque Barra and bustling Tofo lies Sava Dunes, surrounded by golden dunes and iconic ocean views.

Sava Dunes tops the standard in regards to location. Built atop sand dunes, the lodge is luxury and eco friendly, running completely off solar power. The lodge strives to provide a tranquil beach retreat yet also minimizing the carbon footprint. There are 5 Ocean Facing Cottages and 1 Garden View Family Chalet, each providing luxury amidst a wild, raw and rugged coastline.

The beach is a few meters from your doorstep, and offers warm waters with a peeling surfable wave ideal for bodyboarding. In season, whale-sharks and humpback whales frequent the area; and bottlenose dolphins are also commonly spotted. The couple that host the venue Sonette & Jose- are lovely warm people that really made me feel at home.

All meals were fantastic, 3 courses each time, perfect breakfast for a long day on the beach.

Beautiful eco lodge on top of the sand dunes north of Tofo. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very spacious, each with a terrace overlooking the ocean. We were visiting during the whale migration and we’re lucky to see whales breaching from our rooms or while taking our meals. Sonette, her husband and the team are very friendly and always happy to help (eg organising tours). The food was also delicious. Highly recommend – it is a special place!
